If you are reading this, I want you to know that you matter to me. I think your soul is beautiful. Finish your day with smile knowing that there is someone out there, whom you have never met, who is blessed that you are alive!
Dragon Eggs Found? I knew it all along. 😉
If you are passionate about something, pursue it. Life is fleeting and too short for shoulda, woulda, coulda’s. Believe in yourself even if others do not, because ultimately, only you are responsible for your happiness. If you do not believe in yourself, then the journey will be filled with doubt and angst, but valuing your own self worth and recognizing that your are exactly where you are supposed to be in life, either to learn from your situation or so someone else can learn from you. I never set out to be a writer, but my collective life’s experiences have enriched my writing and I am a better person for expanding my horizons, learning other cultures, and gaining a respect for all living beings. I have tried new things and I have succeeded in some and failed at others, but in hindsight, every step or stumble has taught me something. I believe in myself and look forward to the rest of this Journey called Life. I vow to keep my heart and mind open and will appreciate every chance I get to inhale and exhale deeply. Go out and enrich your lives, and remember to always enjoy the process.
Step outside, sit in a quiet place, close your eyes and take a long, deep breath. When you exhale, release your thoughts and clear your mind. Can you sit quietly? I try, but my characters are antsy. It is definitely time to sit down and commit to rewrites for “Book 2 in The Dragon Birthmark Series: Dark Bloodlines”. My characters are running through my skull and demanding to be fleshed out and telling me their stories. It is time.
The Artwork Contest comes to a close in four days and then it’s ‘Go Time’! Look for Book 2 this Fall 2013!
Some steps seem harder than others knowing that the road untraveled is less unforgiving, but the lure of stumbling onto a new adventure that propels me soaring into a new and exciting unknown far outweighs the inevitable bruises.
I begin again.
Thank You to Everyone who entered the Artwork Contest! There are only 2 chapters that No One attempted and they are listed below. I am extending the contest for these two chapters only until July, 28 2013. Please feel free to contact me with any questions via email at JPRusso@AchenePress.com I looked forward to your creative submissions!
Chapter 18 – Please sketch a Harpy from the description below:
There in the doorway, stood a sight I will never forget. An over-sized scroll was being used as a crutch for a creature that didn’t look like it should be standing at all. An old decrepit woman peered over the top of the scroll. Only one of her eyes opened wide, the other looked as if the eyelid was too heavy with warts to open.
I glanced down, wondering how she was standing. She didn’t have complete legs! Her entire lower half from under two wrinkly knees belonged to a bird! Over-sized bird feet, complete with a couple broken talons supported her worn out frame. She was a hideous sight.
With the same slow pace, the creature maneuvered through the doorway, like death walking. Once through the door, two leathery brown wings unfurled from her back! There were hooked talons on top of the flesh in between the vein-riddled webbing. The crowd cringed. Then, in a bat-like fashion, Ekadenc slammed the hooks into the wood, creating the peg-leg sound. Balancing on her clawed wings, she swung her legs forward, dragging her talons across the floor, like a creepy walker.
Google mythology Harpy as a creative jumping off point, but I really would love the human part to look like an old lady 😉
Chapter 22 – Sketch the description below:
A corner of the volcano was pried up with a giant trident. A serpent arm, which was pinned underneath with a handful of vipers as fingers, was gripping the based and lifting the mountain off of his terrifying frame. Lava spewed out of the volcano in every direction! (An extremely terrifying Monster is trying to escape being pinned under the volcano with the help of the trident)
Google Mythology’s Typhon just to get an idea of what others think he looks like.
